2011 - Campbell's Castle Basic School Construction
Location: Windsor Forest, Jamaica
Campbell’s Castle Basic School currently has 48 students enrolled with three teachers and one cook. The school’s motto is: Start them Right and Make Them Bright. The staff strives to create an environment that will promote, support and enhance early childhood education, laying a solid foundation for happy and productive citizens.
Campbell’s Castle Basics has been forced to hold classes in the library, due to the lack of classrooms. With enrollment steadily increasing, the students are confined in the crowded and uncomfortable space, and the students are understandably becoming progressively restless.
The YellowBird Foundation is supporting the Campbell’s Castle Basic School Construction project, which will fund the building and furnishing of a school for the community. Four wooden one-bedroom houses will be converted into the new school and will include a kitchen, bathroom facilities, electrical and plumbing installation, and an office.
The YellowBird Foundation is ecstatic that our donation will be used to ensure that the children of Windsor Forest and its surrounding neighborhoods have a wholesome and spacious learning environment.
