Charity History
The YellowBird Foundation is a non-profit corporation developed out of a basic feeling in the Canadian Travel Industry that the beaches and hotels we see as tourists to the Caribbean and Latin America are not the true picture of what life is really like in 'paradise' and that we can do something to help.

The Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to the development of some of the communities of our favourite travel destinations and is committed to:
  • Improving the lives of children in the Caribbean and Latin America by supporting local education and school programs

  • Promoting local education programs within the Caribbean and Latin America

  • Providing financial, consultative training and infrastructure support to schools and educational organizations in the Caribbean and Latin Americ

In 2003 and 2004, the Travelweek & Travel Guard Charity Golf Classic donated $40,000 to the Foundation. YellowBird used these funds to help in the refurbishment of the Greenwich All-Age School in Kingston, Jamaica.

In 2005, the YellowBird Foundation donated more than $50,000 to various causes. The 2005 Travelweek & Travel Guard Charity Golf Classic raised $35,000 for the Foundation. Yellowbird donated funds to the Island of Grenada to help in the rebuilding of the "Anglican High School" which was severely damaged by Hurricane Ivan effecting over 600 students.

$15,000 from the YellowBird Online Silent Auction was donated to the Canadian Tsunami Relief Effort in Thailand and another $5,000 was donated to help sponsor a student in Canada from St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

In 2007, $10,000 was donated to the Monchy Combined School in St. Lucia. Substantial support was also given to the Boys Training Centre in St. Lucia to improve the centre's overall educational experience.
